Intellectual Property Principles Discussed Within the Framework of a Roundtable

04/15/2022

A round table was held on April 15, this year, in hybrid format entitled “Stimulating Young People’s Innovation and Creativity Through the Tools of the Intellectual Property System”, organized by the Republican Technical-Scientific Library of the National Institute of Economic Research, in cooperation with the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The event is part of this year’s theme of the World Intellectual Property Day “Intellectual Property and Youth - Innovating for a Better Future”, celebrated annually on April 26th. The round table was attended by about 50 pupils from the Center of Excellence in Economics and Finance and the Vocational School №2 from Chisinau municipality.

The purpose of the event was to familiarize young people with the national system of protection, enforcement and use of intellectual property rights.

During the round table, Andrei Moisei, Principal Consultant in the Communication and Training Division, Communication and International Relations Department of AGEPI, spoke about the purpose and role of intellectual property, protection principles, the importance of respecting intellectual property rights, the negative effects of counterfeiting and piracy phenomena on the economic, social and cultural development of the country, combating and counteracting these phenomena.

Also, Ecaterina Coslet, principal librarian, Special Collections Section of RSTL, came with a presentation about the information resources and tools of the library.

The event ended with a question and answer session from pupils who wanted to learn more about counterfeiting, its effects on the economy and how to distinguish original products from counterfeit ones.

We should mention that, for AGEPI, training in the field of intellectual property is one of the key priorities in promoting and developing the intellectual property rights protection and enforcement system.
