01/20/2023

The working visit of representatives of the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce took place on January 19, 2023, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The purpose of the meeting was to address topics of common interest with reference to the important areas of the intellectual property protection system of the Republic of Moldova, as well as to discuss potential areas of cooperation.

CLDP representatives emphasized that a secure and efficient intellectual property system in the Republic of Moldova will facilitate innovation, which is an essential driver of economic progress, and will attract more investments from foreign companies, including US enterprises.

As a result, the meeting facilitated the discussions and the exchange of opinions that will allow the creation of synergy and effective cooperation in order to use the potential of assistance in the implementation of projects in the field of enforcement of intellectual property rights, as well as the identification of new segments for expanding the areas of cooperation.

The CLDP program is a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce, established in 1992. It advances US foreign policy objectives in developing and post-conflict countries through trade legislative reforms.

The CLDP program provides intergovernmental technical assistance, involving experienced legislators, judges, decision-makers, business leaders and lawyers, from both the public and private sectors.
