The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated on November 11 in a Moot Court dedicated to the settlement of an intellectual property (IP)-related dispute. The event was organized by the European Law Students’ Association - National Group “ELSA” and took place in the precincts of the Academy of Economic Studies.

The objective of this activity was to check the theoretical knowledge of the participants by solving a grid test, to analyze and solve a case through the prism of national legislation, the primary purpose being to establish the connection between the theoretical and practical knowledge of the students, and also to encourage the students to develop their oratory skills, legal argumentation and the ability to face competition.

The simulated moot court in the field of IP involved teams of students from law faculties in the Republic of Moldova. The event took place in front of an expert jury, other students having the opportunity to watch the performance of their colleagues.

During the event, the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Eugeniu Rusu, participated as the President of the Panel of Judges, made up of 3 members.

In the end, the students’ skills were appreciated by the jurors, taking into account both the weight of the arguments and directly the performance before the court.

The Director General of AGEPI mentioned that he was pleasantly impressed by the performance of the future lawyers, and the simulated moot court is an important exercise for students to develop their professional skills, and also to train qualified specialists in the field of intellectual property from the Republic of Moldova.

For active involvement in the simulated moot court, the future lawyers received diplomas of participation. Also, the members of the Panel of Judges received a diploma of gratitude from the Association “ELSA”.
