On 14 November this year, AGEPI specialists participated in the round table entitled “The Role of Intellectual Property in the Economic Development of the Republic of Moldova”, organized by the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the State University of Moldova (SUM), for student circle’ members “Socio-Economic Problems of Life Quality” of the Department of Economics, Marketing and Tourism.
The action was carried out to familiarize representatives of higher education institutions of the republic with the national system of protection, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
AGEPI specialists have presented the communication “National System of Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights”, also distributing informational materials in the given field. The purpose of this meeting was to initiate and inform the students about the importance of intellectual property for economic, social and cultural development of the country. Also, the participants in the seminar were familiarized with the laws regarding the registration, use and exercise of IP rights in our country. Strong arguments were presented vis-a-vis the need for protection and benefits from the correct use of human intellect product. Another objective of the roundtable was students’ awareness and challenging to exploit their own intellectual potential.
The event fits into the list of actions carried out during the Decade of Students.
Year 2014 was declared the Year of Youth to encourage youth participation in social, economic, cultural and political life of the country, also for the same purpose being approved the National Youth Strategy 2014-2020 which will create the necessary conditions to give young people equal opportunities for development.
