An online seminar entitled “Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Increasing Competition Capacity” was held on 18 November this year at the Business Incubator in Soroca.

The event was organized within a project implemented by ProEnTranse, funded by the European Union through the East Europe Foundation, co-financed by the Government of Sweden, the beneficiaries being members of the association of enterprises SORINTEX.

The seminar was dedicated to the business environment in the region, the participants being economic agents from the light industry (textiles, clothing, etc.).

The event aimed to increase participants’ attention to the need and importance of protecting trademarks, industrial designs in economic activity.

The representatives of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated with communications according to the theme of the seminar. Thus, Andrei Moisei, main consultant, Communication and Training Division of AGEPI, spoke about the general notions in the field of intellectual property (IP), especially trademarks, the advantages of IP protection, the legal framework, the services offered by AGEPI, as well as the databases and the website www.agepi.gov.md.

Alexandru Saitan, Head of the Industrial Designs Division of AGEPI, informed the participants about the legal protection of industrial designs, especially about the registration procedures in the Republic of Moldova, and also abroad, the benefits of registration as well as modalities of searching in national and international databases.

AGEPI specialists answered a series of questions related to the trademark and industrial design registration procedures, the fees related to these procedures, etc.
