The meeting of the Commission for Examination of Applications for the Grant of Permission to Use the Official or Historical Name of the State in the Trademark/Industrial Design took place on 6 April, this year, in online format, chaired by Eugeniu Rusu, Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, President of the Commission.
During the meeting, 3 requests for the use of the official or historical name of the State in the trademark were examined and it was decided to grant permission to use the official or historical name of the State in the trademarks: No. R 13866, No. 26706 and No. 28434.
The said trademarks are to be used for the following categories of products and services: alcoholic beverages; photographs, stationery, training or educational materials; clothing, footwear; advertising, etc.
In accordance with the legislation in force, trademarks, industrial designs containing the official or historical name of the State may be registered only with the consent of the Commission for Examination of Applications for the Grant of Permission to Use the Official or Historical Name of the State in the Trademark/Industrial Design, whose activity is regulated by Government Decision No. 8/2022.
