New signs whose protection is required under Article 6ter of the Paris Convention

11/09/2015

On 30 September 2015, the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published the list of symbols whose protection was sought under Article 6ter of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (Paris Convention).

If you consider that the extension of protection to one of the notified signs may affect your rights on an earlier trademark or another intellectual property right, you may file an objection in this regard.

Objections to protection of any of these signs must be submitted to the AGEPI within a period of 12 months from the date of publication (until 30 September 2016).

The objections formulated shall be filed free of charge, in writing, in the state language.

For more information contact us at the tel. no.: 022-400541 or e-mail address natalia.mogol@agepi.gov.md.

Article 6ter of the Paris Convention establishes the legal instrument that provides protection to official signs of States party to the Paris Convention, and to names and emblems of international intergovernmental organizations against their unauthorized registration or any imitations from a heraldic point of view thereof as trademarks.
