Today, Deputy General Director of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Andrei Popa, presented the certificates of graduation of the training course in intellectual property assigning the qualification of “Counselor in Intellectual Property”.
In opening the event, Andrei Popa stressed that in the era of digital economy, the respect for intellectual property is one of the most important criteria that determine the degree of civilization of a country. Respect for intellectual property right cannot be provided where poverty, corruption, ignorance of the law in general as a stated principle, are diurnal realities. Andrei Popa expressed full confidence that the graduates of the course will become missionaries of the respect for intellectual property right.
The training course in intellectual property was attended by employees of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), AGEPI specialists and other interested persons.
The aim of the course was to train counselors in the field of protection, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and development of the necessary skills for CPA employees to enforce the rights in intellectual property objects, as investigators of intellectual property infringements.
During the course, AGEPI familiarized the participants with theoretical and practical aspects on the national and international normative and legislative framework in the field of protection of industrial property objects, namely trademarks, industrial designs, inventions, geographical indications, appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed, plant varieties and protection of copyright and related rights.
Also, AGEPI specialists talked about the means of enforcing intellectual property rights and economic aspects of intellectual property.
There also were presented the AGEPI databases and information resources in the field of trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications as well as patents for invention and plant variety.
We should note that during the period September-December 2016, AGEPI will organize a new edition of the training course in intellectual property.
