A new list of symbols whose protection was requested under Article 6ter of the Paris Convention

04/16/2019

On March 29, 2019, the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published the list of symbols, the protection of which was requested under Article 6ter of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property.

If you consider that extending the protection to one of the notified signs may prejudice rights in relation to a previous trade mark or other intellectual property right, you can object to that.

Objections regarding the protection of any of these signs must be filed with AGEPI within 12 months from the date of publication (until March 29, 2020). The objections formulated shall be filed free of charge, in writing, in the state language.

For more information you can contact us by phone: 022-400-541 or e-mail address Natalia.Mogol@agepi.gov.md.

Article 6ter of the Paris Convention establishes the legal instrument that protects the official signs of states that are party to the Paris Convention, as well as the names and emblems of international intergovernmental organizations against their unauthorized registration or imitations from a heraldic point of view as trademarks.
