04/21/2023

The State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) announces the launch of the National Report on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the Republic of Moldova for 2022. This is the 11th edition of the report, published annually since 2012, within public authorities’ efforts to develop a balanced IPR enforcement system.

The report was developed by the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, with the informational support of the public authorities of the Republic of Moldova responsible for the enforcement of IPRs, namely: State Agency on Intellectual Property, General Police Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Customs Service, Prosecutor General’s Office, Agency for Courts Administration, State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection and Competition Council.

The report analyzes the developments and progress recorded in the last year in terms of enforcement and promotion of intellectual property rights in the country, including the measures taken by the authorities and institutions in the field.

According to the document, in 2022, despite the difficulties encountered as a result of the situation in the region and the global economic context, public authorities continued to carry out activities aimed at increasing public awareness of the importance of enforcing IP rights.

Regarding the activity of law-enforcement bodies, the report highlights that they carried out a series of control and verification actions in order to detect and sanction crimes related to the infringement of IP rights, such as confiscation and destruction of counterfeit products.

According to AGEPI, the launch of this report is a strong signal to the business environment and to all actors involved in IPR enforcement, highlighting the need for enforcement of intellectual property rights and the consolidation of a safe and fair business environment in the country.
