Meeting of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights was held at AGEPI

Meeting of the members of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights was held on 16 April this year, at AGEPI, with the participation of the representatives of the Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, Customs Service and Prosecutor General’s Office.

The meeting was chaired by Andrei Popa, Deputy Director General of AGEPI, Chair of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, and the main objective of the meeting was to launch the National Report on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova for 2018, containing statistical and analytical data on infringements of intellectual property rights on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and actions taken by the authorities responsible for enforcement of intellectual property rights in order to counteract the area of ​​counterfeiting and piracy. The Chair of the Observatory stated that the National Report is a collective product of all institutions with responsibilities in the field of intellectual property rights enforcement and thanked their representatives at the meeting for their valuable input and contribution.

The identification of the activity directions of the above-mentioned authorities and the challenges posed by the area of ​​counterfeiting and piracy for the year 2019 was another subject of discussion of the meeting. The need for training on the intellectual property segment of the staff in the authorities responsible for enforcement of intellectual property rights has been agreed upon, as well as continuing to work together to remove the obstacles that right holders face in protecting their rights.

At the same time, in the context of the end of the implementation period of the EU project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” in the Republic of Moldova, the publications elaborated with the project support were presented.

The participants in the event appreciated the Observatory’s activity positively and displayed their willingness to contribute to the efficiency of its activity through a more active involvement in the activities organized under the aegis of the Observatory.
