In a festive gala, held on Thursday, 21 November 2013, at the IEC “Moldexpo”, organizers of the International Specialized Exhibition “INFOINVENT-2013”, thirteenth edition, have awarded their laureates.
The ceremony was attended by the AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan, Prime Vice-President of ASM, Academician Ion Tighineanu, President of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva Jean-Luk Vincent, AITT Director General Roman Chirca, representatives of research institutions and universities of the republic and from abroad, participants and guests of the exhibition.
The ceremony was led by the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) Lilia Bolocan, who for a starter wished to thank all the participants in the exhibition. “During the three days of late autumn, inventors and researchers from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Italy, Slovenia, Belarus, China have been in a positive competition of the latest scientific and technical achievements, materialized in inventions, new products and technologies and exhibited on the exhibition stands in the framework of the thirteenth edition of the International Specialized Exhibition “INFOINVENT”, said Lilia Bolocan.
The current edition of the exhibition was attended by 101 institutions from the sphere of science and innovation and higher and vocational education of the republic and from abroad and 25 natural persons – inventors, creators, craftsmen.
Guests of the exhibition were the European Patent Office, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania, the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China, the IP and Technology Transfer Center of Estonia, research institutions and universities of Bucharest, Iasi, Oradea, Baia-Mare, Suceava.
It should also be mentioned the active participation of students of the Technical University of Moldova and pupils, laureates of the National Contest “Most Gifted Innovative Pupil”, editions of the years 2012-2013, with their works, alongside of the world-renowned scientists in the field of creativity and inventiveness.
In the framework of the exhibition was organized an extensive program of activities, including the Innovation Conference, which took place in the first two days of the exhibition, followed by the stock of inventions in medicine and agriculture and the round table entitled “Creative Industries in Economic Development of the Country”, to the organization and conduct of which contributed AGEPI, ASM, AITT, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Culture.
Like in the previous edition, exhibitors and visitors have benefited from assistance of AGEPI and OEB experts for familiarization with the newest information and documentation sources in the field of intellectual property, especially in the field of patents for invention.
We should mention that from the modest start in 1997 to the current edition, had permanently increased both the number of participants and exhibited inventions, as well as the share of special prizes and distinctions awarded for the most valuable achievements, including: The Moldovan Government Award “Most Gifted Inventor”, Awards of the World Intellectual Property Organization, medals instituted by AGEPI, mentions and diplomas of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, UIR “Innovator”, National Council for Accreditation and Attestation, Technical University of Moldova, as well as special prizes and awards of the international exhibitions of inventions, whose representatives traditionally participate in our exhibition.
Thus, the around 450 works presented in the exhibition, distributed into 5 sections, including inventions, plant varieties and industrial designs, innovation and technology transfer projects, creations of youth, new products and services, handicrafts and crafts, were assessed by the Committee of Experts and the International Jury of the exhibition with the following awards: bronze medals: 60, silver medals: 54, gold medals: 43. The exhibited works have been also appreciated with 29 special diplomas and prizes of the exhibition organizers and guests from abroad.
In the following we will mention a few of the most important awards of the exhibition. This year, the Government Award was presented to Mr. Gheorghe Anghelici, dr. hab., prof., Director of the “C. Tabarna” Surgical Clinic for the cycle of works in the treatment of liver cirrhosis.
WIPO Gold Medal “Outstanding Inventor” was presented to Victor Tapcov, assoc. prof., State University of Moldova, for the synthesis of new inhibitors of human myeloid leukemia HL-60.
WIPO Gold Medal “Best Woman Inventor” was presented to Tatiana Chiriac, Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology of the ASM for the cycle of works in biotechnology, namely processes for determining nanoparticle toxicity using red microalgae Porphyridium cruentum.
WIPO Gold Medal “Best Young Inventor” was presented to Anna Moldovanu, Institute of Zoology of the ASM, for the cycle of inventions in biotechnology, microbiological industry, namely development of bioinsecticides for controlling pests of fruit trees and crops.
WIPO Trophy “Innovative Enterprise” was presented to an institution: Institute of Zoology of ASM for the cycle of works in the field of apiculture.
WIPO awards were handed by Jean-Luk Vincent, president of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva.
It should be mentioned that AGEPI Award “Best Invention” was presented to a group of researchers and inventors from TUM, led by Academician Ion Bostan for the development of an industrial prototype of the wind turbine with horizontal axis with the power of 10 kW.
AGEPI Award “Best Invention Created by a Young Inventor” was presented to Pavel Nicolaev, Technical University of Moldova, and the award “Best Invention Created by a Woman Inventor” was presented to Mrs. Valentina Bulimaga, State University of Moldova.
Also, in the awarding ceremony, organizers have designated the winners of the picture contest, among children, “STOP Piracy and Counterfeiting”, and the Journalistic Contest “Building the Future of the Country with Intellectual Property”.
At the end of the awarding ceremony, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan mentioned: “We hope that the efforts of the participants and organizers will contribute effectively to familiarize the general public with the advantages of the legal protection of inventions and other industrial property objects for the benefit of authors and right holders, the importance and role of intellectual property in the economic, cultural and spiritual development of the country”.
The 13th edition of the International Specialized Exhibition “Infoinvent-2013” has completed its work on 22 November this year. Its organizers – AGEPI, ASM, AITT and IEC “Moldexpo” J.S.C. – managed to offer the necessary framework for promoting the labor results of researchers and inventors in the atmosphere of an event that has enjoyed the attention of mass media representatives, general public and businessmen, interested to develop their business on a modern innovational basis, to implement the most interesting and practical works proposed for marketing by right holders, to apply as soon as possible the new technical solutions into production and to market them. It was exactly this purpose set forth by the organizers of the event – promotion of industrial property objects, new products and technologies, stimulation of innovational activity, exchange of technical-scientific and normative-legislative information, attraction of investments, creation of conditions for the conclusion and execution of intellectual property rights transfer contracts.
