The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), together with the EU Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” in the Republic of Moldova, organized on 30 October an information seminar entitled “Promoting the Capabilities and Functionalities of the eIPR Information System”. The event was attended by experts from the EU Project, AGEPI specialists and representatives from the National Agency for Food Safety, Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, Electronic Governance Agency, Customs Service and Prosecutor General’s Office.

In the opening, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan highlighted the importance of the interinstitutional IPR communication platform for streamlining processes and data sharing between public authorities. “This platform will certainly increase the quality of data sharing, generating relevant statistics that would be the basis of an effective intellectual property rights strategy,” added Lilia Bolocan.

Further on, the EU Project experts made an overview of the IT system and talked about the current and future potential of this communication platform.

The integration of this system will take place on the basis of a Government Decision, which will be the official foundation of this cooperation between public institutions. At the moment, the platform is hosted by AGEPI and can be enhanced or developed with other modules.

It should be noted that the IT system development began in December 2017, and its acceptance is expected by November 1, 2018.

The Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” in the Republic of Moldova is funded by the European Union and will come to an end in November 2018.
