In the period 11-15 December 2017, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property is held the training course “Protection of Intellectual Property in the Republic of Moldova. Practical Aspects” for judges and prosecutors trained in the continuous training process conducted by the National Institute of Justice.
The training course is attended by judges from the Chisinau court and territorial courts, the Chisinau, Balti, Cahul Court of Appeal, as well as prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office and territorial public prosecutor’s offices.
The start of the training course was given by Mrs. Lilia Bolocan, AGEPI Director General, who welcomed the participants and mentioned that the institution pays special attention to the training of judges and prosecutors in the field of enforcement of intellectual property. The judiciary system of the Republic of Moldova faces various challenges in this area, and the training of judges is a fundamental prerequisite for quality judiciary decisions and will increase the competences of judges in the Republic of Moldova in settling intellectual property disputes and raising the quality of the act of justice and the criminal or civil procedural instrumentation of the causes that are related to the field of intellectual property.
The purpose of the training course is the professional training of judges and prosecutors in the field of intellectual property, their familiarization with the theoretical and practical aspects related to the protection of intellectual property objects at national and international level, increasing the competencies of judges in the Republic of Moldova regarding the settlement of intellectual property-related disputes and raising the quality of the act of justice and criminal or civil procedural instrumentation of the causes related to intellectual property so that it complies with the European standards and norms.
According to the training course Program, AGEPI specialists will present communications on:
- “Protection of Intellectual Property: The Limit of Exclusive Rights”;
- “Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Courts”;
- “Information Sources in the Field of Intellectual Property”;
- "Extra-Judicial Settlement of Conflicts in the Field of Intellectual Property”.
This event is part of the list of joint activities planned by AGEPI and NIJ on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed on April 12, 2013, which requires the promotion of knowledge about the national system of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights among employees in the justice sector of the Republic Moldova.
