The representative of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated on March 31, this year, in online regime, in an information seminar in the field of protection of intellectual property rights for specialists of the P.I. Public Services Agency (PSA), Law Units Registration and Licensing Department.
The purpose of the event was to promote and disseminate information on the national intellectual property (IP) system and to consolidate knowledge in the field of IP among PSA specialists.
During the seminar, Andrei Moisei, principal consultant, AGEPI Communication and Training Division, familiarized the participants with the principles of trademark protection and the limits of exclusive rights; the particularities related to the coexistence of signs according to the classes of goods and services, the common elements, the specificity of the similarity and the degree of confusion; trademark conflict with previous rights and how to resolve it. Aspects related to the search in the public databases managed by AGEPI, their accessibility and how to use them were also discussed.
The conflict between the trademark and the trade name, the legal and procedural aspects that would help the competent institutions not to admit the infringement of the rights of the trademark owners by registering the identical or similar trade names were also discussed.
The event ended with a question and answer session. Finally, the participants were satisfied with the information presented by the AGEPI specialist and were interested in continuing the training, especially in the field of database research.
