The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) delivered on April 12-13, 2022, in online format, a cycle of lectures in the field of intellectual property for approximately 65 doctoral students of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu”.
The purpose of this course was to promote, disseminate information and deepen the knowledge of first-year doctoral students in the field of intellectual property. The course was divided into two sessions: “Protection of Intellectual Property, General Aspects” and “Research Results, Their Protection and Management”.
During the seminar, the participants were familiarized with aspects related to the typology of intellectual property objects (IPOs), the specifics of IPO protection both in the Republic of Moldova and abroad, taking into account the existing procedures of filing and examination of applications for the grant of protection.
The major interest of doctoral students was focused on the process of scientific research and the results of this research, which, depending on the stages performed, need to be highlighted and preserved, being provided with adequate protection.
In this regard, the participants were provided with information on various ways of protection, the emphasis being placed on elements of management and use of intellectual property for profit, ways of creating a portfolio of IPOs that include inventions, design, trademarks, etc., as well as the specifics of protecting research results as know-how (trade secrets).
The development of knowledge dissemination activities regarding the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights is part of the training process in the field of intellectual property, being the main goal of the Cooperation Agreement between AGEPI and SUMP “Nicolae Testemitanu”, signed in 2009.
