The State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) implemented, during 2022, the “Goods & Services Web Service Package” (G&S WSP) programme package, developed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), being the first intellectual property office outside the European Union to integrate it into its information system.
The G&S WSP assists AGEPI’s staff with the examination of the acceptability and classification of the goods and services filed in trademark registration applications by checking that the terms are aligned with the harmonized database of goods and services (HDB), a database currently being used for this purpose by 55 IP offices worldwide.
It was offered free of charge by EUIPO through a non-exclusive license agreement signed in April this year. The AGEPI’s implementation of the G&S WSP is a concrete result of EUIPO’s International Cooperation Programme in collaboration with its international partners and is also part of the AGEPI-EUIPO Joint Action Plan for the years 2022-2023.
