The Eighteenth Edition of the Symposium “AGEPI Readings” came to the end

In the period 21-22 April this year, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) was held the annual Scientific-Practical Symposium “AGEPI Readings”, eighteenth edition. The purpose of this event was to provide a platform for debates on issues related to the field of intellectual property.

The Symposium was attended by 100 specialists both in the field of intellectual property and representatives of public institutions and authorities in the field of science and innovation, patent attorneys, inventors, professors, students, and representatives of the Romanian Copyright Office.

The event started with the first session entitled: Recent developments in the field of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights and included communications relating to the geographical indications system in the Republic of Moldova – achievements and prospects; contribution of creative industries to the economy of the Republic of Moldova; Bootlegging with the AGEPI: Analytical patent tools in action and visions on modernization of training in the field of intellectual property, etc.

In the second session were discussed issues related to the protection of industrial property rights: legal and procedural aspects. There were presented communications on combating unfair competition actions in the field of intellectual property; counterfeiting of objects protected by a title of protection and fight against this phenomenon; new trends in the design of logotypes, etc.

Also on the first day of the event was organized a special tasting of products with geographical indications or for which GI is sought. Thus, participants had the opportunity to appreciate the Popeasca sheep cheese, the Calarasi rose petal jam, the Zabriceni herbal teas, and local wines.

The first day of the Symposium ended with the presentation of communications on current issues of protection of copyright and related rights.

During the second day of the event were discussed topics related to the use and management of intellectual property and teaching staff training and upgrading in intellectual property.

At the end of the event, Director General of AGEPI, Octavian Apostol, said that this year edition was interesting, with thrilling and very useful presentations. Octavian Apostol thanked all for participation both with communications in the sessions, and for the active involvement in debates during the presentations, encouraging them to continue research and studies in the field of intellectual property.

Symposium “AGEPI Readings” is part of a series of events devoted to World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated annually on 26 April. World Intellectual Property Day theme this year is Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined”.
