Constructive Dialogue between AGEPI and the U.S. Commercial Law Development Program

A working meeting was held on June 23, 2022, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), with the representatives of the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Thus, the possibilities of organizing training events, study visits and exchanges of experience in the field of enforcement of intellectual property rights, intensifying collaboration with institutions and associations of U.S. rightholders, encouraging the protection of intellectual property rights in the Republic of Moldova, including at the border were identified during the working visit.

At the same time, on the agenda of the meeting were also the topics related to the support of the Moldovan authorities in their efforts to strengthen the cooperation of the institutions responsible for ensuring the enforcement of IP rights on common platforms, such as the Observatory for Enforcement of IP Rights within AGEPI.

The Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, Eugeniu Rusu, thanked the representatives of the CLDP Program for their intention to provide support in strengthening the capacities of the Agency’s specialists and expressed the openness of the institution for a fruitful cooperation.

In conclusion, the Parties agreed on a constant dialogue in order to valorize the potential for assistance in the implementation of projects in the field of enforcement of intellectual property rights, as well as the identification of new segments for the expansion of cooperation areas.

The CLDP program is a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce, established in 1992. It promotes U.S. foreign policy goals in developing and post-conflict countries through commercial legal reforms.

The CLDP program provides intergovernmental technical assistance, involving experienced legislators, judges, policymakers, business leaders and attorneys from both the public and private sectors.
