AGEPI supports the Development of the Cleantech Sector of the Republic of Moldova

07/29/2024

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated in the 2024 edition of the National Academy Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP Moldova), which took place from 26 to 28 July 2024. The event was organized by the National Center for Sustainable Energy (NCSE) in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and with the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), within the project “Clean Technology Innovation Programme for SMEs and Start-ups in the Republic of Moldova”.

The GCIP Moldova National Academy conducted an intense three-day training program for the 30 semi-finalists selected after evaluating 56 eligible projects for the GCIP Moldova 2024 Business Acceleration Program. Through this program, the organizers aimed to develop the participants’ fundamental skills and knowledge, including in the field of intellectual property (IP), thus facilitating the growth and success of their proposed cleantech innovations.

The main objectives of the event included supporting selected cleantech entrepreneurs by providing training, mentoring and networking opportunities, as well as preparing teams to develop an initial project.

The training program included sessions dedicated to intellectual property, financing opportunities, environmental impact assessment and other relevant topics. Additionally, a panel for discussion with representatives of investor networks was also organized during the event, thus providing participants with the opportunity to interact directly with potential financiers and present their innovative ideas.

Simion Levițchi, Head of the Trademarks and Industrial Design Department of AGEPI, spoke to the participants about the role of intellectual property in the development and protection of their innovations. During the session, the importance of the trademark for the individualization of products and services, the protection of the external appearance of products through industrial designs, as well as the protection of various technical solutions through patents were discussed in detail. It is worth noting that some of the participants already own intellectual property objects, which emphasizes the relevance and applicability of the information presented.

AGEPI’s participation in this event confirms the institution’s commitment to supporting the development of all enterprises in the Republic of Moldova, including in the cleantech sector, by promoting and protecting intellectual property.
