AGEPI participated in the “One Belt, One Road” Conference on Intellectual Property in Beijing

09/13/2024

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated from September 11 to 13, 2024, in the third edition of the High-Level Conference on Intellectual Property within the “One Belt, One Road” Initiative (BRIPCON), which was held in the city of Beijing, China. The event was organized by the National Intellectual Property Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNIPA) in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC), the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality.

The theme of this year’s BRIPCON Conference was “Opening, Cooperation, Development and Mutual Benefit”, and the program included the opening ceremony on September 11, a plenary session on September 12 and a roundtable for partner countries on September 13. This conference brought together about 450 participants, including ministers and vice-ministers responsible for the field of intellectual property (IP), leaders and representatives of public authorities involved in the protection of IP rights from China’s Belt and Road Initiative partner countries, Chinese government officials, business leaders, intellectual property practitioners and researchers.

AGEPI was represented at the event by Diana Stici, head of the Legal Department, and Victoria Plesca, head of the International Relations and European Integration Division. Discussions focused on topics such as regional cooperation, sustainable development, digitization and the exploitation of intellectual property rights. The roundtable on the final day of the event reviewed the achievements of past cooperations and paved the way for new partnerships, with China announcing initiatives to deepen cooperation in this area.

The participation of AGEPI representatives in the BRIPCON Conference provided the opportunity to strengthen international relations and explore new ways of cooperation in the field of intellectual property. It also allowed the exchange of best practices and knowledge with experts from various countries, thus contributing to the improvement of institutional capacities and the promotion of innovation and sustainable development in the Republic of Moldova.
