AGEPI - EUIPO Cooperation Relations, discussed during an Online Bilateral Meeting

09/16/2020

An online meeting between the delegation of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), headed by the Director General Viorel Iustin, and the Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Christian Archambeau, and other EUIPO representatives was held on 16 September.

During the meeting, topics of interest for the two offices were addressed, with an exchange of views on the latest developments in the field of intellectual property. The implementation stage of the EUIPO - AGEPI Joint Action Plan for the 2020-2021 Biennium was also assessed and the cooperation priorities for the next period were outlined.

The Director of EUIPO congratulated the Moldovan delegation on the successes registered by AGEPI in implementing the EUIPO instruments by the Agency. “We highly appreciate AGEPI’s openness to bilateral cooperation with EUIPO and are willing to continue to provide support to the Moldovan office in areas of interest, including access to some programs for offices in EU Member States,” said Christian Archambeau.

The Director General of AGEPI, in turn, thanked the Director of EUIPO and his team for being open to the needs of the Agency and assured the European partners of AGEPI’s firm commitment to ensure the implementation in the Republic of Moldova of the most progressive European practices and standards in the field of intellectual property protection.

The delegations of the two offices exchanged views and ideas on the priorities of the intellectual property offices in the current crisis caused by the new coronavirus and showed their readiness to strengthen their efforts to overcome the difficulties posed by COVID-19 and further implement the joint projects, among which priority is given to taking over common practices developed under the EUIPO Convergence Program and integrating and using EUIPO tools, such as DesignView, eSearch plus, etc., in the AGEPI procedures.
