The National Report on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova for 2023 Was Published

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) announces the launch of the National Report on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in the Republic of Moldova for 2023. It is published annually since 2012, as part of the public authorities’ efforts to develop a balanced IPRs enfocement system.

The report was developed by the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights, with the informational support of the public authorities of the Republic of Moldova responsible for the enforcement of IPRs, namely: the State Agency on Intellectual Property, the Prosecutor General Police Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Customs Service, the General’s Office, the Agency for Courts Administration, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection and the Competition Council.

The report analyzes the developments and progress made in the last year in the enforcement and promotion of intellectual property rights in the country. Also, the document provides essential information on the actions taken by the public authorities of the Republic of Moldova to increase public awareness of the risks associated with the counterfeiting and piracy phenomena. It also provides relevant statistical data on the activity of law-enforcement agencies in combating infringements of intellectual property rights.

The 2023 report highlights the resilience of the authorities responsible for the protection of intellectual property rights in the face of regional challenges and the difficult global economic context. Despite these difficulties, activities aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of enforcing IP rights have been sustained and continuously developed.

Overall, the efforts undertaken in 2023 reflect the continuous commitment of the Republic of Moldova to the protection of intellectual property rights and the strengthening of regional cooperation to promote an environment conducive to innovation and creativity.

According to AGEPI, the launch of this report is a strong signal to the business environment and to all actors involved in enforcing IPRs, highlighting the need to enforce IPRs and strengthening a safe and fair business environment in the country.
