In order to improve the examination procedure for trademark registration applications established according to the provisions of Law No. 38/2008 on the Protection of Trademarks and the Regulations on the Procedure for Filing, Examination and Registration of Trademarks, approved by Government Decision No. 488/2009, some amendments were made in Section 1.8.2. “Deception as to the Geographical Origin of Goods/Services” (Art. 7(1)g)) of the Guide to the Examination of Trademark Registration Applications, approved by Order of the Director General of AGEPI No. 176 of 29.09.2018, with subsequent amendments (https://agepi.gov.md/ro/ghid_marci/introducere).

In order to ensure the transparency of the activity of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), the draft improvement of the trademark examination procedure was published on November 29, 2023 for public consultation.

The amendments made were approved by the Order of the Director General No. 195 of December 22, 2023 and entered into force on January 2, 2024.
