A New Program for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Has Been Launched in Chisinau

24.06.2022

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated on June 24 in the launch event of the Digital Transformation Programme for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises organized by the Organization for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (ODIMM).

Present at the event, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita stated that despite the regional crises and the difficult economic situation in the country, the Government identified the necessary resources for support policies for entrepreneurs and approved the Programme, which in addition to accessing grants will facilitate transfers of expertise and good practices to beneficiaries. Thus, the Programme will provide an integrated approach to support SMEs, by introducing digital tools, in order to develop the productivity and competitiveness of local enterprises. According to the Prime Minister, as a result, the volume of investments in the national economy will increase, external financial means will be attracted, and the business in the Republic of Moldova will be transformed according to the European model.

“Now that we have obtained the status of a candidate country and we are not only neighbors of the EU, but future members, we have the task of becoming more competitive and modern. Let’s reach the EU states in our economic development and show that we can not only benefit from membership, but also contribute to the development of the entire European Union. In this regard, we count on achieving all the goals of the Programme, creating new jobs, increasing the productivity of beneficiaries and I assure you that we will continue to fund such positive practices. We will only be able to successfully emerge from crises if we invest in our economic agents, in the digitalization of their activity and in the development of new practices. Together we work, invest and integrate in the EU”, said Natalia Gavrilita.

The presentation of the Programme was also attended by the Minister of Economy, Sergiu Gaibu, representatives of international partner development organizations and diplomatic missions, central public authorities, business support institutions/organizations and company managers.

During the event, the local business environment was informed about the possibilities of accessing the non-reimbursable financial support of up to 500 thousand lei, offered through this Programme. At the same time, the success stories of some entrepreneurs who have already digitized their businesses by automating production processes; international sales through e-commerce; implementation of an online reservation system or an intelligent inventory management software, etc., were presented. In the same context, the technological partners of the project presented their creative solutions, services and technological proposals.

We should mention that AGEPI supports the development and achievement of new performances of SMEs by organizing information sessions, workshops, free pre-diagnosis services and fee facilities provided for our services.

The Programme is funded from the state budget of the Republic of Moldova and supported through the Future Technologies Activity Project, funded by USAID and the Government of Sweden.
