New Liaison Meetings on Cooperation and Trademarks Hosted by EUIPO

From 23-24 October, this year, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) organized the 21st Liaison Meeting on Cooperation and the 30th Liaison Meeting on Trademarks.

Experts from the intellectual property offices of the EU Member States, candidate countries as well as representatives from the international intellectual property associations and organizations met to discuss the latest developments in the field of international cooperation as well as in the field of trademarks.

The Republic of Moldova was represented by Victoria Pulbere, deputy head of the Trademarks and Industrial Design Department, within the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

EUIPO Liaison Meetings constitute an official forum for experts to discuss technical matters and therefore represent an important step towards the continuous development and sustainability of the European Union Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN).

During the meetings, an overview of the funded projects implemented by EUIPO, the latest developments and achievements of the year 2023, as well as the perspectives for the year 2024 regarding the ongoing European cooperation projects was presented.

During the sessions, topics related to the ECP4 Convergence Projects and the implementation of common practices were addressed. During the meeting, the final texts of the common practices on CP13 “Trade marks applications made in bad faith” and on CP14 “Trade mark contrary to public policy or to accepted principles of morality” which will be adopted by the Administrative Council in November 2023 were presented for information. Including, the project with reference to the common practice CP16 was presented and the update of the information with reference to the common practice CP15.

Also, during the meeting, the subject with reference to the virtual world was addressed, being present the developments of the lP policy, notions, registration trends, problems of classification of goods and services in the context of trademark registration, case studies, etc.
