Fifth Meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the EU Project “Support for Structured Policy Dialogue, Coordination of the Implementation of the Association Agreement and Enhancement of the Legal Approximation Process” Was Held

On February 13, representatives of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated in the 5th meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the EU-funded project “Support for Structured Policy Dialogue, Coordination of the Implementation of the Association Agreement and Enhancement of the Legal Approximation Process”, convened in order to evaluate the activities carried out within the project, as well as the establishment of future priorities. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

The event was attended by representatives of the beneficiary public authorities (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, State Chancellery, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, National Bank of Moldova, Competition Council, State Agency on Intellectual Property, Agency for Electronic Government) and of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

The main achievements of the team of experts during the period June - December 2022 were presented during the meeting. The speakers highlighted the significant support offered in order to support the needs of the beneficiary institutions in achieving the commitments deriving from the Association Agreement, materialized through draft reports, analyses, recommendations and relevant practical assistance.

In the process of carrying out the project, the experts of the EU project managed to maintain an active dialogue with the beneficiary institutions, establish new contacts and carry out important activities in order to make the implementation mechanisms of the Association Agreement more efficient, especially in the context of the new status of the Republic of Moldova of a candidate country for EU accession, as well as to provide practical assistance in advancing the process of harmonizing the legislation in areas such as competition, state aid, environment, consumer protection, digitalization, intellectual property and infrastructure quality.

AGEPI representatives thanked the project leader, Primož Vehar, for all the fruitful cooperation the agency had during the reference period, including the organization of joint events. In the same way, AGEPI appreciated the support provided by the experts from the EU project, Irina Lucan-Arjoca and Bojan Pretnar, in the part related to the assistance given to the consolidation of the national intellectual property protection system and the legal expertise of the normative framework in the fields of copyright and related rights, and inventions.

Moreover, we mention that for 2023, AGEPI together with the EU Project, have established joint actions and initiatives to be carried out in the near future, which come to strengthen the intellectual property protection system in the Republic of Moldova, as well as to provide support in the implementation of the European acquis in the field.
