The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) has developed the Guide to the Examination of Industrial Design Registration Applications. The provisions of the Guide shall enter into force from 1 January 2020.

The Guide represents a continuity of the AGEPI activities on ensuring transparency of the actions carried out, guaranteeing access to the information held, granting the multilateral assistance to any person interested in the field of industrial designs.

The Guide aims to present the AGEPI practice on the application of Law No.161/2007 on the Protection of Industrial Designs, the Regulation on the Procedure of Filing, Examination and Registration of Industrial Designs and other normative acts. Also included are useful comments on the preparation of documents, especially images, necessary to obtain the legal protection of industrial designs both in the Republic of Moldova and in other states, using the opportunities offered by the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

The Guide will be useful both to AGEPI employees, involved in the industrial design examination procedures and applicants, owners, opponents, and also to all interested persons.

It is important to note that the Guide is a consultative document and cannot replace the professional assistance/counseling necessary to take into account all the circumstances of each case.
