Bilateral Activities of AGEPI-EUIPO, discussed during a Meeting in Geneva

The director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) Lilia Bolocan had a bilateral meeting with the Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Christian Archambeau, and with other EUIPO representatives.

The meeting took place in the context of participation of the AGEPI Director General in the 58th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which takes place from September 24 to October 2, in Geneva.

Thus, during the meeting, the latest developments of AGEPI and EUIPO in the field of intellectual property system development were reviewed. Discussions have also been held on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the State Agency on Intellectual Property signed on 11 July 2017, and also the stage of implementation of the EUIPO – AGEPI Action Plan for 2018. Subsequently, the two delegations made an exchange of views and information on the cooperation priorities for the next period. The EUIPO Executive Director wished to congratulate the Moldovan delegation on the successes of AGEPI in the implementation of EUIPO instruments and programs and showed his willingness to continue bilateral cooperation, including within European projects. AGEPI Director General confirmed AGEPI’s commitment to continue its efforts to align with European standards and welcomed EUIPO’s openness to further support the Republic of Moldova, including by organizing trainings and exchanges of experience, providing consultancy and implementing common projects.

According to Geneva’s visit program, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan had a meeting with Louise van Greunen, Director, Building Respect for Intellectual Property Division, WIPO, with whom she discussed about the organization in the Republic of Moldova of the second edition of the Regional Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement and the International Conference on Enforcement 2020.

Also, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan is supposed to have an official meeting with WIPO Director General Francis Gurry, on Thursday, September 27, with whom she will discuss about WIPO-Republic of Moldova cooperation priorities.
