04.04.2016

For the first time since its establishment, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized, on April 4 this year, the Open Day for all persons interested to learn about the activity of AGEPI.

The event aimed at raising society awareness of the role and place of intellectual property in economic, social and cultural development of the country and the need for protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the Republic of Moldova.

The initiative of organizing such an event belongs to the Director General of AGEPI, Octavian Apostol. The communication between the AGEPI and applicants must become open, and this event is a good opportunity to be closer to those of interest to intellectual property, Octavian Apostol said during a meeting with a group of visitors. Director General of AGEPI said that he enjoys the fact that the event was of interest both to students and the press. Octavian Apostol added that he wants the deployment of Open Day with the AGEPI to become a tradition, to be organized even twice a year.

Throughout the day, AGEPI specialists were at the disposal of each visitor and each group, presenting step by step the procedures for registration of a trademark, for patenting inventions, the ways of management of copyright and access to national or international databases.

Also, people attending the event were informed about the activity of AGEPI, the benefit from the protection of inventions, trademarks, industrial designs and copyright.

According to the program, visitors could also admire an exhibition of interesting descriptions of inventions selected by AGEPI specialists and exhibited in the conference hall of the Agency.

At the same time, on the occasion of Open Day, visitors were able to leave messages in the Book of suggestions and express their expectations about the activity of the State Agency on Intellectual Property.

Open Day event took place in the context of activities devoted to World Intellectual Property Day in the Republic of Moldova, which traditionally is celebrated on April 26. World Intellectual Property Day theme this year is “Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined”.
