On 9-10 September 2009, in Astana. Yerevan, Republic of Armenia, CIS Executive Committee held a joint session of the Interstate Council on matters of industrial property protection (hereinafter - Interstate Council) and the Joint Committee of Member States working in the collaboration to combat violations of intellectual property (hereinafter - Joint Committee).
Our country is represented in works of joint meeting of Interstate Council and the Joint Committee of a delegation of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, led by Mr. Dorian Chirosca, Director General AGEPI, plenipotentiary representative of the Interstate Council of the Republic of Moldova.
In accordance with the consolidated agenda, during the joint session organized by the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks (ROSPATENT) and Agency for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Armenia will be addressed the most urgent problems in the field of intellectual property facing CIS at the present moment and will be examined the achievements grade of the decisions taken at previous meetings.
It shall be said that in the frame of the current session, the plenipotentiary representatives will make also raised questions about actions taken by Member States to coordinate the activities necessary to implement the plan of measures for achieving the first phase (2009-2011) of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for the period up to 2020, developed in order to enforce the Decision of Council of Heads of Governments of CIS Member States of October 14, 2008 and approved in current May 25, in Astana, especially measures 1. 7. 1. -1. 7. 4 with reference to the “Protection and defense of intellectual property rights”.
According to the agenda, the plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Moldova will report on the activity of the Working Group to strengthen and harmonize national laws of member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Agenda of the current session also provides the choice of Interstate Council President for the next two years.
