The administration of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) had a meeting today with representatives of the Employers’ Association American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova) and the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC).

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the subject of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights, as well as to relaunch discussions with the business community on proposals related to the drafting of a new law on copyright and related rights, in particular the provisions related to the amount and method of payment of the compensatory remuneration.

During the meeting, the Director General of AGEPI, Eugeniu Rusu, mentioned that: “AGEPI wants to become an access bridge and a good mediator for the parties involved in the respect for and protection of intellectual property. In my capacity as Director, I will always choose to strengthen equity, and together with my colleagues we will be willing to go to meet the parties as long as the correctness and observance of the law will be pursued through requests. Thank you to everyone present for your involvement and kindness. I am convinced that only by combining our efforts will we be able to do beautiful things.”

Discussions also addressed other aspects related to the system of collective management of economic copyright and related rights, in particular existing issues in the field, actions to be taken jointly to enforce the rights of holders of copyright and related rights, and ensuring a balance between their interests and those of users in this segment.
