The Diplomatic Conference for the adoption of the Treaty on the Protection of Audiovisual Performances began its works

On 20 June this year, in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, within the China World Trade Center, took place the official opening of the Diplomatic Conference for the adoption of the Treaty on the Protection of Audiovisual Performances, convened by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The Diplomatic Conference is held from June 20 to 26, 2012.

The event convenes over 700 delegates from 156 Member States of WIPO and 46 governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Republic of Moldova participates in the Diplomatic Conference with a delegation (approved by Government Decision no. 417 of 15 June 2012) in the following composition:

- Mrs. Lilia Bolocan, Head of Delegation, Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property,

- Mr. Nicolae Damaschin, Member of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council.

President of the Diplomatic Conference was elected Mr. Liu Binjie, Minister of National Copyright Administration of China, representative of the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Lilia Bolocan, occupying one of the posts of Vice-President of this important forum.

State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) has been actively involved in the development of the new international treaty as a specialized governmental body and has full power to sign it. Treaty will be signed on 26 June this year.
