The representatives of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated on 11 November in an information session for teachers in which the topic “Plagiarism in Education” was addressed. The event was organized by the Public Association META.

The purpose of this webinar was to promote, disseminate information and deepen the knowledge of teachers in the field of copyright.

Andrei Moisei, principal consultant, AGEPI Communication and Training Division, spoke to the participants about the phenomenon of plagiarism in the educational field. During the event, the specialist addressed topics related to the limits of inspiration: how much can be taken over from another work; when this “takeover” will be considered reproduction and in what situation the same “takeover” can be considered adaptation; to what extent the consent of the holder is required and in which cases we are obliged to refer to the author. The AGEPI expert also touched on general topics of intellectual property (IP) with provisions related to the intellectual property objects created by teachers and the ways to protect them, as well as aspects related to the enforcement of IP rights, especially with regard to unfair competition, piracy, plagiarism and counterfeiting.
