In the context of implementation of Component 3 of the Twinning Project “Support to Implementation and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova”, on 25-26 April will be held the second Pilot Seminar “The Impact of Intellectual Property Offences on Society”. The seminar will be held in the Conference Hall of the Hotel “Jolly Alon” (37, M. Cibotari Str.).
In the opening of the Seminar will participate: representative of the EU Delegation in the Republic of Moldova, Dr. Lilia BOLOCAN, Director General of AGEPI, Michael POULSEN, senior advisor in international cooperation, International Projects Department, Danish Patent and Trademark Office.
The seminar will be moderated by the European experts Keld Nymann JENSEN, Deputy Director General of the Danish Patent and Trademark Office, Bogdan BORISCHIEVICI, Director of the National Collection, Informatics and Services Directorate of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM), and Monica POP, Chief Prosecutor, Service for Coordination of Ministry of Public activity in the field of intellectual property rights in Romania.
To the seminar were invited to take part representatives of the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Justice, Economy, Education, Information Technology and Communications, Customs Service, National Institute of Justice, National Agency for Protection of Competition, Prosecutor General’s Office, Center for Combating Organized Crimes and Corruption, Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer, Consumer Protection Agency, AGEPI, etc.
Within the framework of the seminar will be discussed topics focusing on enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR), including: Economic Impact of Counterfeiting and Piracy. Counteraction and Awareness Tools; IPR Crimes: Hazard to Public Health and Safety; Organized Crime and Theft of Intellectual Property; The Role of Intellectual Property Office in Combating Crimes in the Field of IP Rights, etc.
At the end of the Seminar, on April 26, 13.00, will be held a Press Conference devoted to the launch of Public Campaign “STOP Piracy and Counterfeiting!” and the balance sheet of the Competition for the creation of national symbols associated with protected geographical indications, protected appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed .
