On April 26, in the festive meeting dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day – 2012, the Director General of AGEPI Dr. Lilia BOLOCAN handed the WIPO Gold Medals for Creativity to the writer Spiridon VANGHELI and the theater and film actor Mihai VOLONTIR.
The medal winners were honored by the beautiful words of greeting addressed by Acad. Mihai CIMPOI, writer Nicolae DABIJA, other personalities of national culture and science, scientists and inventors, members of the creative unions present at the meeting.
They noted that Spiridon VANGHELI is one of the most distinguished writers for children in our country and Romanian literature from everywhere, known to readers in the country and on other meridians of the world. His work has been translated into dozens of languages, the total circulation registering more than 20 million copies. Guguta, his well-known hero, is loved by both little reader and elderly people.
Mihai VOLONTIR played in about 40 films and over one hundred theater performances. He became famous for a series very popular in the 80’s, loved by the public in the former Soviet Union, in which he played the romantic role of a wise and fond of justice gypsy. Currently, Mihai VOLONTIR is an actor of the National Theatre “Vasile Alecsandri” from Balti.
It should be noted that WIPO Gold Medal for Creativity was previously awarded to writers Ion DRUTA, Dumitru MATCOVSCHI, poet Grigore VIERU, composer Eugen DOGA, and opera singer Maria BIE^U.
