The Fourth Regional Consultation on Geographical Indications in Europe and Central Asia was held on December 11, 2023, in online format. The event was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation with the Organization for an International Geographical Indications Network (OriGIn).

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) extends an invitation to all customers of the Hague System to participate in a satisfaction survey initiated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The aim of the survey is to assess the level of customer satisfaction with regard to the services offered by the Hague System.

The second meeting of the Geographical Indications (GI) Sub-Committee between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland took place on December 7, this year.

The meeting was organized in videoconference format and was chaired by Simon Crabbe, Head of Geographical Indications and Alcoholic Drinks Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the part of Great Britain and on the part of the Republic of Moldova by Natalia Mogol, Deputy Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The Cabinet of Ministers approved, on December 6, the Draft Law on Trademarks, presented during the Executive session by the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, Eugeniu Rusu.

In order to ensure the conformity of the national trademark protection system with the European one and the compatibility of the national regulatory framework with the provisions of EU acts, through the Draft Law on Trademarks should:

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) and the European Patent Office (EPO) organized on December 5 an online information session focused on presentation of training resources available on the platforms of both offices. The event was intended especially for authorized attorneys, with the aim of preparing them to act effectively before the EPO on their own, when the Republic of Moldova will become part of the European patent system.

On November 29, 2023, almost 50 fourth-year students from the study programs “Industrial Clothing Design”, “Design and Printing Technologies” and “Textile and Clothing Design Technology”, Design Department of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM) have participated in a seminar organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The event aimed to provide students with a detailed insight into the national intellectual property protection system and to highlight opportunities for its valorization.
