The Winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People Have Been Nominated

The judging of the works for the final stage and the award ceremony of the winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People organized by AGEPI, in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM) and the Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA), was held on October 29, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The event was attended by the participants in the contest, leaders and specialists of AGEPI, as well as representatives of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania.

According to the Regulation, 16 participants who passed the final stage of the Contest have prepared a communication on intellectual property that they have presented in a more interactive way to the Organizing Committee. After the presentation of the papers, the jury members decided on the winners of the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People.

Thus, Liviu Rotaru won the grand prize worth 5000 lei. In the final stage, studying in Norway, Liviu made a presentation by skype entitled “If you were an actor, inventor, writer, designer, etc., how would you convince friends to respect your intellectual property rights? What are the benefits of respecting these rights?”

Jubea Iuliana, a pupil at “Alexandru cel Bun” Theoretical Lyceum in Bender, who received a prize worth 3000 lei, ranked second. Iuliana made a presentation, in verse, entitled “How can I convince others to respect my copyright?”.

Daniela Gradinaru, a pupil at “Mihai Eminescu” College in Soroca ranked third, winning a prize worth 2000 lei. Daniela chose a company in Soroca, identified its products and developed the version of the trademarks and industrial designs (packaging) to increase the volume of sales.

All participants of the final stage of the Contest received participation diplomas and promotional materials from AGEPI.

Finally, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan thanked the participants for their involvement, appreciating the works presented as being very creative and interesting. Encouragement words for participants also addressed the guests present in the hall, wishing them a lot of success.

The Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People was attended by young people from the Republic of Moldova studying in the general, 9th to 12th grades, and vocational secondary and post-secondary vocational education institutions.

The Contest took place during the period April - September this year, in three stages. In the first stage of the Contest, all 62 participants from the Republic of Moldova, who were registered online, were admitted. In the second stage, the participants responded to a series of questions in the field of intellectual property, made available by the organizers. In the third stage, 16 participants were admitted, who prepared a communication on intellectual property.

The aim of the Contest is to promote the intellectual property system, to raise awareness of young people on counterfeiting and piracy phenomena, to develop the skills and competitive spirit, to create a communication environment among young people interested in the field of intellectual property and to encourage the exchange of opinions and experience.
