The Interim Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) Andrei Popa met, on September 25, with 40 participants of the ACADEMIE INTERNATIONALE DE L'REREPRENEURIURIAT Autumn School.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize young people with the national system of protection, enforcement and exploitation of intellectual property rights (IP).

In his message addressed to young people, the Interim Director General of AGEPI emphasized the role of the national IP office in the realization of policies in the field of intellectual property, the specificity and the importance of the protection of IP objects. At the same time, through eloquent examples, he noted the risks that may arise when using unregistered trademarks, the negative effects of counterfeiting, and also the importance of geographical indications, appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed for the socio-economic sector of the Republic of Moldova.

“Raising awareness of the importance of enforcing intellectual property rights, both among young people and throughout society, is a priority for AGEPI. This will lead to the development of the creative, innovative capacities of the citizens and will help them to efficiently use the results of their intellectual activities”, said Andrei Popa.

Subsequently, the present young people were offered information about the direct activity of the AGEPI Directions, responsible for the issuance of the titles of protection of intellectual property objects and their importance for a successful business, being distributed informative and promotional materials in the field.
