The meeting of the National Commission on Intellectual Property (CNPI) was held on May 27, this year, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The meeting was chaired by Chiril Gaburici, Chairman of NCIP, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the specialized central bodies of the public administration, law-enforcement and control authorities, responsible for the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, as well as representatives of non-commercial organizations in the field of intellectual property, members of the CNPI, including specialists therefrom.
In the framework of the meeting were examined subjects focused on strengthening and developing the intellectual property protection system.
In turn, Lilia Bolocan, AGEPI Director General, presented for approval the Consolidated Monitoring Report on the implementation of the Action Plan for 2018-2020 on the implementation of the National Intellectual Property Strategy until 2020 (reporting period 2018), the Annual Report of the State Agency on Intellectual Property for 2018 and the Report of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights for 2018.
A priority for the Commission’s members was also the approach, in the framework of the meeting, to the actions taken by the authorities to develop the system of protection of geographical indications, appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the progress made in this respect.
Particular attention was paid to the copyright and related rights management system in the Republic of Moldova, being presented the developments registered in this field as a result of the actions taken by AGEPI.
At the same time, the Commission’s members were informed about the conduct of the Contest “Trademark of the Year 2018”, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with AGEPI.
