Information and education of civil society, training and improvement of teachers in the field of intellectual property are concerns on the agenda for the AGEPI, which have been materialized lately through various activities: symposiums, scientific-practical, information-methodological, education, seminars and conferences etc. Promotion and exploitation of intellectual property takes place through increased access to information and knowledge in the IP field, strengthening the human potential in the field, introduction of IP concepts at the university undergraduate and postgraduate level. The target audience of these actions was constituted of specialists from various institutions, researchers, students and pupils, economic agents, etc.
Thus, within the framework of the TEMPUS Mercury Project “Towards models of research and entrepreneurship universities in higher education in Russia, Ukraine and Moldova”, in the period of 10-11 February 2011 at the State University of Moldova was conducted the Workshop “Intellectual property rights management services in universities benefiting from the TEMPUS Mercury Project”. The workshop was organized by SUM in collaboration with the AGEPI.

The project partners have acknowledged the results of the 2nd year of implementation of the Tempus Mercury Project, addressed administrative issues, and presented activities for 2011. In the exchange of views was revealed the importance of creating intellectual property offices to promote and use intellectual property in the teacher and student environment, to rise the professionalism on the promotion of intellectual property objects (IPO) and to develop the information dissemination activities in this area.
In the same context, on 14 February, inside the Library of the State University of Physical Education and Sport, has been organized the training seminar on “Protection of copyright and related rights in the Republic of Moldova”. The seminar aimed to familiarize the teaching staff and students of the University with the national legislation on protection and respect for intellectual property rights.
Mr. Petru Racu, Head of Library and Archive Collection, AGEPI, presented a number of information sources in the field of intellectual property, organizing also a specialized book exhibition. About the aspects of national legislation on protection of copyright and related rights spoke Mrs. Olga Belei, Chief of Legislation Control and Enforcement Division, Department of Copyright and Related Rights, AGEPI.
The same day, at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “N. Testemitanu” was organized a seminar entitled “Identification of the invention; Subject-matter of the invention and its elements”. It was aimed at informing teachers and doctoral students from the SUMPh “N. Testemitanu” about the requirements of national legislation on the protection of inventions, especially in the field of medicine.
AGEPI is always looking for the most appropriate ways to spark the interest of teachers and students in intellectual property issues and to promote the general IP culture in the entrepreneurial environment, including through university community.
