Geographical Indications, promoted in a Seminar organized by EEN Moldova

On 13 May this year, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) attended an informative seminar entitled “Standardization and placing products on the EU market for beneficiaries of the Enterprise Europe Network in Moldova”.

The event was organized by Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Moldova in cooperation with AGEPI, Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer (AITT), Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Center for International Projects of the ASM, National Institute for Standardization (NIS) and Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM).

During the seminar, Natalia Mogol, Deputy Head of Trademarks and Industrial Design Department, AGEPI, familiarized the participants, representatives of associations of producers, agricultural associations and producer enterprises of the Republic of Moldova, with the role of the system of protection of geographical indications in promoting products with determined origin and quality.

Also, during the event were presented the principles of operation and services of EEN Network Moldova, the importance of standards in placing products on the market. Participants also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the funding opportunities for SMEs under the Horizon 2020 and other assistance programs available for enterprises in the Republic of Moldova, and the World Bank Competitiveness Enhancement Project.

The seminar on 13 May is the first in a series of four events dedicated to geographical indications, planned to be organized under the Business-INN-Moldova Project, which aims primarily at providing specialized support to improve the quality of businesses and promoting the local SMEs on the European Union market via EEN Moldova network.

Enterprise Europe Network is the largest network for Small and Medium Enterprises in Europe that offers support to local firms for internationalization of businesses by providing expertise to encourage foreign trade, identifying new markets for products/services, establishing contacts with potential together partners to develop new businesses or technologies, contracting financers for business ideas, inventions and innovations.
