Events dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Organization, organized at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova

On 4-5 April, within the premises of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (AESM) was held the Scientific Symposium of Young Researchers ASEM-2014 (doctoral, master candidates and students), twelfth edition. The opening of the Symposium was attended by Mr. Grigore Belostecinic, rector of AESM and Mrs. Lilia Bolocan, Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

In his speech addressed to participants in the Symposium, Acad. Grigore Belostecinic stressed the importance of research and innovation and, respectively, of intellectual property in economic development of the country.

In turn, Mrs. Lilia Bolocan specified the role of the young generation in promoting and using new ideas to ensure progress. Also, AGEPI Director General specified that April is a significant month for intellectual property worldwide, because on April 26 is celebrated, annually, the World Intellectual Property Day. This year, in the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization, including the Republic of Moldova, World IP Day will be celebrated under the motto “Movies – A Global Passion”.

The Symposium took place in several sections, in which were presented a series of reports both by professors, doctoral, master candidates and students of AESM. The topic addressed by the speakers was focused on addressing the following areas: problems and solutions of contemporary economy; management and marketing in the contemporary economy; public administration; European and regional economic cooperation and integration; IT support and quantitative methods in economics; finance, currency and credit; accounting; audit, economic analysis; contemporary jurisprudence; philosophy and political science; economic geography and demography, etc.

AGEPI participated in the event as co-organizer of the section “Intellectual Property - Business Development Tool”, organized by the Faculty of Business and Business Administration of AESM.

About the need for protection of intellectual property (IP) objects and the provisions of the national system for the protection and enforcement of IP rights, and about the means of enforcement of IP rights have spoken Mr. Andrei Moisei, Director of the Legal Department and Elena Dadu, coordinator lawyer of the Legal Department, AGEPI.

In this section were also presented 5 communications of students interested in the field of IP. Students addressed topics related to: the importance of scientific and technical progress and its effects in the context of sustainable development; innovations and inventions of the twentieth-twenty first century and their impact on the development of society; creativity at work; industrial secret, etc. The best communications were awarded diplomas of mention.

All participants in the symposium received a set of materials (brochures, leaflets) in the field of intellectual property, distributed free of charge by AGEPI.

Another event organized by AESM and AGEPI in the program of events dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day is the contest “Today Student - Tomorrow Entrepreneur”. The Student Contest will be held on April 10, at the AESM and aims to develop managerial and entrepreneurial skills to future graduates.
