Some of the best achievements of domestic creators in the field of product design and industrial design, fashion design, plastic arts, furniture, graphics, architecture, interior design, etc. are presented in the framework of an exhibition entitled “MOLDOVA - designing lifestyle” - The Role of Design in Increasing the Quality of Life in the Republic of Moldova, in Geneva, Switzerland.
The event is organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), in partnership with the Public Association for Sustainable Development and Social Welfare.
The exhibition takes place in the context of the 58th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) from 24 September to 2 October. The official opening of the exhibition took place on September 26.
In the welcoming address at the opening of the event, WIPO Director General Francis Gurry congratulated the delegation of the Republic of Moldova for sharing talent and creativity through this design exhibition. Francis Gurry emphasized the importance of supporting creative areas that create economic value through intellectual property, contributing substantially to the progress of society.
“This exhibition is a special opportunity for us to promote the culture and creative spirit of the Republic of Moldova. What we present today for contemplation and appreciation is a selection of 15 projects by our local designers in the field of industrial design and product design, fashion design, plastic arts, furniture, graphics, architecture, interior design, etc. which excels through originality, creativity and, of course, by fitting thereof into international trends. These works were selected in the festival of creative industries Moldavian Design Week, organized this year for the first time in our country. For the Republic of Moldova, creative industries are a relatively new field, at the same time dynamic and promising, but which require more promotion for faster growth and more advanced progress,” said AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan, in the opening of the event.
“This stand is a story of the nation, a story of those who have created these exhibited objects, a story generated by local tradition, in contrast to innovation, technology and the future. The stand appears as a contemporary art installation in an unprecedented formula. We consider that this effort and the initiative to promote the creative industries of the Republic of Moldova in Geneva is an event that will have good echoes at international level”, emphasized Alexandrin Buraga, vice president of the Public Association for Sustainable Development and Social Welfare, founder of the Moldavian Design Week.
Further on, all those present were invited to visit the exhibition stand, as well as to taste some traditional Moldovan products such as horn-shaped cookies with cherries, plums in wine, dried plums stuffed with nuts, fruit paste and candies.
Guests were pleased with both the works exhibited on the stand, appreciating the creativity and talents of intellectual value creators from the Republic of Moldova, and the taste of traditional Moldovan products.
Finally, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan thanked our partners who contributed to the organization of this event: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office in Geneva, the Architecture and Design Office AB + Partners, the Public Association for Sustainable Development and Social Welfare and the SmartLight company, as well as the World Intellectual Property Organization for giving the opportunity to organize this exhibition in the 58th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO. Thanks were also given to the participants who exhibited their works on the exhibition stand: Mihai Stamati, Valentina Vidrascu, MADLAB, Victoria Tonu and Alexandru Nimurad, Anna Wigandt, Lorina Balteanu, Rodica Grigorita, Dina Rotari, Dumitru Gangaliuc, Sergiu Balta, Oleg Bajura, Nicolae Scaterman and Nicu Zaporojan.
