The representative of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participates from September 30 to October 4, in the Trade and Public Health Workshop, held by the World Trade Organization (WTO), in Geneva, Switzerland. The event, now in its 18th edition, brings together government officials from WTO members and observers with the aim of strengthening the capacity of policy makers to find practical solutions for current health challenges.
The workshop is a multidisciplinary activity, with the participation of 27 experts from international organizations, governments, the private sector and civil society. Opening the event, Johanna Hill, WTO Deputy Director-General, emphasized the importance of WTO rules in facilitating equitable access to health-related products and services, from research and development to last mile distribution to patients and medical personnel.
Organized in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the workshop offers participants the opportunity to interact in group discussions, exchange best practices and case studies, contributing to a common understanding of intricate challenges at the intersection of trade, intellectual property and public health.
