40th Edition of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva

The most revolutionary inventions were presented in the period of April 18 to 22, 2012 during the famous International Exhibition of Inventions, New Technologies and Products in Geneva. At the 40th edition was exposed a record number of innovations designed to make our life easier and safer.

40th edition, anniversary, of the Exhibition was also an edition of records: 789 exhibitors and 46 participating countries, 65,925 visitors and over 650 journalists from around the world. Most ideas came from China and Russia, followed by Iran, Romania and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Through the recorded results, the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva reiterated its status of the most important place of specialized meetings in the world.

The Grand Prix was awarded to REHAB-ROBOTICS COMPANY LTD, from Hong-Kong, China, for a new system to reeducate the hand. It is designed for people who have suffered a cerebral attack. It allows them to recuperate the motor capacity of their hands with just the power of thought.

The prize of the public for the most popular invention went to the Swiss company S.E.I.C., which created a resonance ball which protects peoples’ health from electromagnetic waves created by Wi-Fi and other devices in closed quarters such as appartments and offices.

The prize of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was given by Ms Cécile BENBACHIR, Head, WIPO Awards Unit, Outreach Services Section, Division of Communication to:

- The best inventor: Mr. Abdulrahman ALSULTAN, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for his method of identification of diabetic patients who are at risk of infection;

- The best woman inventor: Mrs. Elena DAVID, from Romania, for her catalytic decomposition method of organic materials from solid waste.

The Prize of the National Authority for Scientific Research of the Ministry of Education and Research of Romania was given by Mr. Decebal LOHAN, General Secretary to:

- The National Center of Global Innovations, from Russia, for the mobile phone without the harmful effects of radiation on the brain of the subscriber;

- Mr. Ion TODERAS et al., from the Republic of Moldova, for their process for feeding bee families Apis Mellifera.

The Prize of the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) was given by Prof. Aurelian GULEA, official delegate of the Exhibition for the Republic of Moldova to:

- Mr. Constantin NEGRILA et al., from Romania, for their method for controlling the growth processes of semiconductor crystals;

- Mr. Mihail SONKIN et al., from Russia, for their navigation and telecommunication sets of a new generation.

The Republic of Moldova participated in the Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva with 7 cycles of inventions, they being assessed with 4 gold and 2 silver medals.

The International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products in Geneva is the most prestigious international event dedicated exclusively to inventiveness and organized under the patronage of the Swiss Government, State and City of Geneva and the World Intellectual Property Organization. The next edition of the Exhibition will take place on 10-14 April 2013.
