23.05.2016

On 19-21 May, within the premises of the Pallas Mall, Iasi, Romania, was held the eighth edition of the European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation EUROINVENT.

The exhibition was organized by the Romanian Inventors Forum, “Gheorghe Asachi”Technical University, Association for Ecology and Sustainable Development “Europe Direct” and “Al. I. Cuza” University, under the aegis of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and World Inventions and Intellectual Property Association (WIIPA).

In the framework of the exhibition were presented 560 inventions and research topics, from 43 countries.

The opening ceremony of the event was attended by the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Octavian Apostol.

In his welcome speech, AGEPI Director General thanked the Romanian Inventors Forum for the invitation and congratulated the organizers for the fact that from edition to edition, the exhibition has grown in scope and recognition.

Also, Octavian Apostol urged inventors to benefit from the provisions of the validation system and obtain protection on European applications or patents and in the Republic of Moldova, given that at the end of the last year, exactly on 1 November, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Patent Organization on Validation of European Patents entered into force. Thus, according to the Agreement, as of 1 November 2015, inventors can validate their European patent applications and European patents in our country, enjoying the same rights and legal protection as national patents issued in the Republic of Moldova.

AGEPI participated this year as well in the European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation with an information stand. AGEPI specialists gave consultations on theoretical and practical aspects of protection of intellectual property objects in the Republic of Moldova, sources of information in this area and distributed promotional materials both to exhibitors and visitors.

Also, in the current edition of EUROINVENT, the inventors community of the Republic of Moldova had a significant presence, among the participants being inventors from universities and research institutions such as the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection, Institute of Physiology and Sanocreatology, Institute Botanical Garden, and representatives of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “N. Testemitanu”, National Scientific and Practical Centre of Emergency Medicine, Institute of Crop Production “Porumbeni”, Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer, etc.

The 90 works presented by inventors and researchers from the Republic of Moldova have enjoyed a high appreciation of the Jury, being awarded 50 gold medals, 20 silver medals, 8 bronze medals and 2 special awards.

Also, two Moldovan engineers, students at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Technical University “Gheorghe Asachi” of Iasi, took the first prize in EUROINVENT for the AVAI Car - a concept of car specially adapted for their friend in wheel chair.

The grand Trophy of the exhibition was awarded to Marcus Razvan from the Corneliu Group – Cluj, for the smartphone charger which charges the phone battery by regenerating the surrounding energy.

Traditionally, AGEPI selected and mentioned with distinctions three of the most interesting inventions presented at the exhibition. Thus, AGEPI medals were awarded to Inventors and Rationalizers Association in Poland, Vowda Organic Cosmetics Company in Thailand and Continental Automotive Romania LTD.

AGEPI Cup was awarded to Dr. of Eng. Andrei Victor Sandu for his contribution to the organization of the European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation EUROINVENT.
