03.03.2020

The 12th edition of the local stage of the European BEST Engineering Competition EBEC took place in the period 28-29 February 2020, in Chisinau.

The competition was organized by the BEST Chisinau Student Organization exclusively for students of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM).

In order to support and stimulate creativity, ingenuity and inventiveness among young people, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated as a partner in this edition of the competition as well.

Andrei Moisei, principal consultant, Communication and Training Division, Communication and International Relations Direction, presented to the participants in the event an interactive communication on the importance of intellectual property, “Creativity. From ideas to valuable objects”.

40 students of TUM, grouped into ten teams, fought for the title of best project in the competition. The teams were divided into two sections, namely Case Study and Team Design.

In the Case Study test, the four participating teams have realized, for 8 hours, without Internet access, a project for rehabilitation of the Romanita building, from Chisinau and turning it into a tourist and economic point.

The Team Design test proved to be an interactive and cheerful one. The participants tested their skills as an engineer-inventor. The four teams selected had the task of creating a device that measures 30 seconds.

The winning teams from both tests are “CIC” and “RIGID”, which will go to the regional stage, which will take place from 1 to 5April, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

It is worth mentioning that the European BEST Engineering Competition is spread in 32 countries with the mission to develop students, giving them the opportunity of a challenge in solving theoretical or practical problems. EBEC aims to involve a complete range of multidisciplinary knowledge and personal abilities of students and to apply this potential in solving problems in real life, working in teams.
