A New Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova”

The third meeting of the Steering Committee of the Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova”, financed by the European Union, was held on 23 October this year, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The main purpose of the project is to improve the way of application of the legislation in the field of enforcement of intellectual property rights.

The meeting was chaired by Lilia Bolocan, Director General of AGEPI, as the main beneficiary of the project. The event was attended by representatives of the co-beneficiary authorities of the project, namely: General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Customs Service, Prosecutor General’s Office, Consumer Protection Agency, as well as the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Project Implementation Consortium, company Archidata and the team of experts responsible for project implementation.

At the opening of the meeting, Lilia Bolocan, Director General of AGEPI, thanked both the representatives of the co-beneficiary authorities and the experts for their support and involvement in achieving the project’s objectives that will ultimately strengthen the national intellectual property system and improve the exchange of data between responsible authorities.

The members of the Steering Committee approved the minutes of the second meeting of the Committee. The experts then presented a summary of the activities carried out during the second phase of the project implementation (May-October) and the priorities for the next quarter.

The representatives of the public authorities present at the meeting took note of the report presented by the project team of experts and mentioned the need to strengthen the interaction between the co-beneficiaries and the team of experts in order to achieve the proposed objective, especially with reference to the identification of the needs for the creation of the information data exchange system in the field of enforcement of intellectual property rights between the institutions responsible for this field.

The organization of the fourth meeting of the Steering Committee in December this year was approved during the meeting.

The EuropeAid/137467/DH/SER/MD Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” was launched in November 2016 and has a 2-year implementation period.
