On 1 August this year, the specialists of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated in a videoconference with representatives of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Videoconference has focused on the field of trademarks; in particular they talked about issues related to the specific requirements applied under the USA law concerning applications for registration of trademarks through the Madrid System. They discussed cases of trademark registration having the republic of Moldova as a country of origin and the USA as a state in which protection is sought.
During the conference there were also brought up for discussion aspects of how to complete the international application forms especially being addressed issues of indication in the international application of the legal-organizing form of the applicant requesting international registration in the USA, aspects of presentation of the translation and description of the requested sign and the specific requirements with regard to the use of the sign in the USA.
At the end of the videoconference, both offices have expressed openness to enhancing the dialogue to elucidate issues of common interest.
